pointer sisters

Well oh well, i recently realized that car-ride duos, trios and quartets are boss! Singing alone in the car is fun, but it's even better with friends. Last night we got rowdy in are multi-destination social commute with a little Pointer Sisters. Cheeze and Corn packed into one great song o man.

So then i went home and listened to the 5 pointer sister songs i had on my itunes and realize they require proper top 5 props..... Listed in order of my favorite.

  1. fire
  2. Jump (for my love)
  3. I'm so excited
  4. he's so shy
  5. slow hand
*FYI all these songs were actually written about their undying love for corndogs, all masculine pronouns obviously referring to the corndog itself.

Brief history/hysteria

So what’s my deal with corndogs? I dunno they’re silly, they’re delicious, fun to say, fun to hold, take great pictures

Here’s my corndog time line:
Liked hotdogs as a kid and really loved that gourmet snack pigs in a blanket. Went one day to Nathan’s Hotdogs in NY and had “hotdog nuggetts” which are really little wieners in dipped in batter aka we’ll just call em cornpuppies. So I got hooked on those, every time we’d be near a Nathan’s I’d magically become hungry for those lil turds and dip em in ketchup. Yum. They’re probably meant to be eaten as appetizers. And then I went hotdog free for about 10 years. I think I heard a little bit too much about there being lips and assholes and everything inbetween . I don’t really know, but whatever it was I decided that hotdogs weren’t for me. I started dating this guy who used to stick them under a broiler and they’d be all exploded and crispy and then I fell in love with them all over again.  Summer months would make countless trips to dairy queen chilly cheese dogs, ketchup-mustard-relish dogs, and so on. June of 2008 I ventured to see my long lost friend in the ATL, who I hadn’t seen since prolly 2001-02. We decided to take a road trip to New Orleans and late one night after getting bored on Bourbon Street we decided to stock up on Krystal Burger and pose with meat and large amounts of ketchup on some random floor of the Hilton we were staying at. It was hilarious and delicious. About 2 months before my birthday this year Larkin sent me a silly message about East Atlanta throwing me a huge birthday party using a play on words with my name, which was loosely based on the original Corndog-O-Rama music festival Atlanta has hosted for over a decade. Somehow that turned into me organizing a roadtrip down to the ATL on my B-day weekend with 2 random dudes who I thought would totally enjoy the random adventure, even though we all really didn’t know each other that well……it turned out pretty sweet! We attended the 2-day corndog/atl music fest, drank PBR, I ate 10 corndogs in 2 days-awesome, stayed at a killer hotel and got to know 2 people a little better AND visit Larkin, celebrate my birthday and just kinda do whatever!!

Wow. So I guess everything around corndogs has been kinda fun. It’s kind of a random way to bring people together, but if people see it the way I do, they’re silly and make me laugh, they make other people laugh too and maybe also see the fun in being silly, take some suggestive photos, wear a mustard moustache or just celebrate the sweetness of sharing laughs. Being serious all the time is unhealthy and it kinda blows, and I don’t mind telling you…..so watch out! I may just do something completely out of the ordinary just to get a rise or reaction…..

So that’s my mission, bring people together, laugh like you did in 8th grade health class, smile till your face hurts, and take time to add a different kind of fun in your life, get creative, get your belly full. Get your ass Corn Dawggin’ with me!

Xoxo

Ps. There’s corndogs for all tastes and diets, and even someone like you.

Let's Get Corny!!

I realize my conversation and writing skills are notorious for spin-offs......Like all great TVshows, this will be my attempt at a slice-o-pie side project based on a recent tabloid love-affair leak with corndogs.*

It's been a busy corndawggin' season, and overall i feel like it's been a very successful year. There's a lot to catch up with, recapping my introduction to corndawgin' campaign, corndawggin' adventures, recipes, consumption, artwork, poems, and the inevitable food-pun usage.

There's been a lot of support, requests, and inspiration for the start of this blog and I'd like to thank everyone for their encouragement and overall excitement. In lieu of the Corn Dawggin' Campaign©., I encourage anyone/everyone to contribute anything pictures, stories recipes, critique, keeping it relatively light, fun, funny and most importantly keepin' it corny!

*i'm steering away from proper grammar in this blog; creative spelling is one of the staple missions of the corn dawggin' campaign.
